Where History, Charm, and Flavor Collide
In October 2024, we set off to explore the beautiful city of Kraków, and it completely blew us away. Once the royal capital of Poland, today it’s a vibrant city where culture, history, and food come together seamlessly. And as always, we didn’t just explore Kraków’s streets – we dove deep into its flavors too.
First Impressions of Kraków
From the moment you arrive, Kraków feels warm and full of charm. The Old Town, with its colorful facades, cozy alleys, and impressive Main Market Square, oozes character. Everything’s within walking distance, making it a perfect city to just wander through and see what surprises you.

What We Saw
Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) – The bustling heart of the city, lined with cafés and street performers.
Wawel Castle & Cathedral – A must for history buffs and lovers of panoramic views.
Smok Wawelski (the Dragon) – Fun fact: this statue actually breathes fire!
Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz) – Buzzing, creative, and packed with street food.
Auschwitz-Birkenau – A powerful, moving experience that leaves you speechless.
Wieliczka Salt Mine – An underground masterpiece, stunning on every level.
What We Loved at the Table
Kraków is a true foodie destination, something we noticed right away with the variety of great spots to eat. Here are a few of our favorites:
The Blueberry Reste & Bar – Our go-to for a hearty breakfast. Think fluffy pancakes and fresh smoothie bowls.
Nova Resto Bar – Stylish, with excellent breakfast and lunch options.
Boccanera – A slice of Italy in the heart of Kraków. Authentic pizza in a cozy atmosphere.
Zalewajka – For something traditional. Their żurek and pierogi are a must-try.
Gaia – Healthy, fresh, and a bit unexpected. Great for a lighter meal.
BeerStreet – Where we kicked off our trip. Craft beer, surprisingly good burgers, and a relaxed vibe.
Judah Food Market – Street food heaven in Kazimierz. A place to taste Kraków in every bite.
And of course – don’t forget to try an Obwarzanek Krakowski (a classic Kraków-style bagel) from a street vendor. It’s a simple but delicious snack while strolling the city.

Where We Stayed: Liv Apartments Old Town
Perfectly located in the Old Town, just steps away from all the highlights. The self check-in was smooth, and the apartments were modern and super comfy. We stayed with seven people, and the separate units on one floor made it ideal for group travel. Highly recommended!
Tips for Your Stay
🚌 Public transport is cheap and efficient – trams will get you anywhere.
💳 The local currency is the Polish Zloty, but most places accept cards.
🎟️ Book your Auschwitz and Salt Mine tours in advance, especially during high season.
🍂 Best time to visit: Spring or early fall for mild weather and fewer crowds.
🗣️ The main language is Polish, but most restaurants and tourist spots speak great English.
A Moment to Remember 🦆
"On our last day in Kraków, we were enjoying a coffee in the sun on the Main Square when we saw… something special. A man was casually walking across the square with two ducks and a dog – and one of the ducks was wearing socks. Totally random, a little absurd, and so funny." - Larissa

Kraków, Until Next Time?
Kraków stole our hearts – not just with its rich history and charm, but also with its warm hospitality and amazing food. It’s the kind of city where you can get lost and still feel at home. And as always, for us, travel isn’t just about what you see – it’s about what you taste and experience.
Still looking for a destination that blends culture and comfort, coziness and cuisine? Kraków is a must!
Until the next adventure!
